What a Year!

What a Year!

Dear YCC students, professors, jury members and fans,

My name is Florence Camenzind and I've been in charge of Young Creative Chevrolet since the very beginning. When I had the original idea for the contest in 2007, I would have never thought it would develop into something this great.

Internally, this was all possible thanks to the strong support of the Chevrolet Europe President Wayne Brannon. The new Chevrolet Communication Director Marc Kempe also joined this year the YCC fan club and my two great colleagues Rachel Southern and Franziska Kuhn have been working very hard to create a new cool website for you for 2010 YCC.

2009 will soon be a thing of the past and it is nice to look back at everything we achieved despite the difficult economical environment.

I tend to agree with the people who believe that times of crisis often spur the best creativity. 2009 was definitely a very fruitful year for the Young Creative Chevrolet contest: More than 120 schools from 19 European countries participated in this year's edition of YCC and we received more than 530 projects. Not only the quantity of proposals was impressive but the quality, too!

Great projects, great ideas and great people. We at Chevrolet enjoyed so much working with all of you. There were very lively and intense discussions during the jury sessions between professionals in the 5 disciplines. We also had a lot of fun hosting the winners during their witness trips. What an honor to work with so many talented people!

Your refreshing way of looking at Chevrolet inspired me for the 2009 YCC awards ceremony. When I saw all the fantastic YCC projects, I felt that I had to find something very special for this ceremony. That's why I approached young fashion designer Mischa Woeste from Smeilinener, to ask her if she would accept to re-think the interior of our new little city car, the Spark. She was amazing! She immediately said "yes, I'll do it!". I gave her "carte blanche". And although I had expected something rather crazy to come out of this, Mischa still managed to surprise me! She succeed in creating a car you can "wear"!

In addition, we were very lucky to have another very talented young lady for the YCC awards ceremony: Norwegian singer Marit Larsen.

I would like to thank Mischa, Marit and all of you who made the 2009 YCC edition so special and invite you to join us for the 2010 edition as a participant, professor, jury member or fan to make this one even more surprising!

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas break to refuel energy and come up with ideas for a strong Young Creative Chevrolet in 2010!

Happy New Year!

Florence
