Portuguese Student wins European Visual Arts Award
21 Jun 2010The European jury panel got together at the weekend in Belgium and have selected the European winners in Visual Arts.
The Visual Arts projects were judged at the World Touring Car Championship Zolder race track and with thirteen exceptional projects the judges had a hard time picking the three winners.
This year saw many strong Visual Arts entries and after a vivid debate the jury agreed that project, Let the Sparks come out, by Jose Rocha, communicated the image of the Chevrolet Spark perfectly and also corresponded well to the brief given to the students: “Let Sparks fly! Redesign the exterior of the Chevrolet Spark in a way that will demonstrate the spirit of the car and electrify the crowd”.
The winning Visual Arts design will be produced and showcased on the Spark 1.4l turbo, when used as the leading car for the races at Brands Hatch, U.K. on July 18.
Wolfgang Buchwieser, Marketing Manager, RIDE Snowboards Europe and Visual Arts head judge said, “I am impressed by the quality of the students' work. We have seen some very cool projects. The winning project is edgy and aggressive. You look at this piece of art and within a second it grabs you and reels you in”.
