Love, Sleep, Music, Pictures

From fine art to fashion, portraits and advertising, Kerstin zu Pan has made a name for herself in the competitive world of photography. Vibrant, complex and open to interpretation, Kerstin’s work is as diverse as it is arresting. This summer, she’ll be bringing her fine eye to the European YCC 2011 jury deliberations. YCC got to learn a bit more about the person behind the pictures.
How did you get into art?
I painted all my life. After school I studied design and fell in love, as they say, with photography.
What is creativity to you?
It’s as important as the air we breathe.
How do you feel art and creative expression are changing today?
I believe that one of the main characteristics of art and creativity is that both are fluid and constantly moving. I guess it was always like this and always will be.

What do you think emerging young artists can do to increase their chances of being successful in the photography industry?
They need to be diligent, passionate and what I’d call greedy for images. Of course talent is required, but it’s only a base to start from.
What inspires you as an artist?
Love, Sleep and Music.
Why did you join the European jury of YCC 2011?
I find it a very inspiring contest!
Are there any artists or works of art you especially like?
I love Billy Wilder.
