Camouflage Spark

Camouflage Spark

Young art students got an exclusive chance to showcase their design projects at Chevrolet’s Spark of Fashion Night event in Berlin on 29 October.

Stickers to customize the Spark were designed by twelve students from the Media Design Hochschule in Berlin, Germany during an intense and creative two day workshop for young art students organized by Chevrolet. The 13 designs resulting from the workshop were displayed in Berlin during the Spark of Fashion Night. The workshop was hosted by award winning design studio, giraffentoast.

Jens Lueg, CEO giraffentoast said “It was a good experience and it brought back great memories to sit in art school again, but this time it was much more fun sitting on the other side of the desk“.

During the Speak of Fashion evening, guests voted for their favorite sticker projects. There was also a prize draw for everyone who voted and Veronika Nagy from Hungary was the lucky winner of an exclusive Apple iPod Nano customized by the Smeilinener brand.

The lucky 100 first Spark customers in Germany will get the possibility to choose one of the three winning stickers to be applied to their Chevrolet car for free.

The winning Spark stickers unveiled

“Camouflage Spark” by student Alf Ahrens, was selected as the winning design. It was closely followed by the “Green Evolution”, designed by Marina Neff and “New Spark in your Life” created by Michael Schulze.

The designs were vivid, imaginative and youthful, tying in perfectly with the new urban Chevrolet Spark.

“I found great inspiration in the Chevrolet Spark advertisement that was shown to us as a teaser at the workshop in our school.

I thought of the Spark as a city-car that could fit into such a scene. “The Camouflage-Spark” / “Street-Art” spark shall integrate itself into the colorful, crowded and eventful city. Between all the buildings, dust and noise life pummels. It would also reflect different people, cultures, religions and lifestyles with various stories.

With my design, I created a mix between a comic- and graffiti-look, which I believe represents a young, fresh and city-lifestyle. Many people can cope with comics, because they read them when they were young or are still reading them and graffiti belongs to a city just like traffic lights, signs and power lines.

I named it Camouflage, because it kind of mirrors the city and will maybe prevent your car from becoming a mural for an uneducated graffiti-kid. The Spark can now be a part of the city”, said winner, Alf Ahrens.

“The floral and organic design reflects the liveliness of a metropolis, with all its youthfulness, playfulness and modernity. The black and white colours are adaptive to each variant of the car paint”, said Marina Neff.

“The idea behind my design was to show the beginning of a new phase in life using fresh and striking elements, colored bubbles and dynamic lines. This is a new phase of life that is characterized by freshness, youthfulness, liveliness and a design that makes you feel and experience the joy of color and the joy of driving the new Spark.“ said Michael Schulze.
